I Need Movie Recommendations!

Fellow bloggers, I need movie recommendations! I love movies like Ocean’s 11, Inception, and Valkyrie, anyone got any movie recommendations like that?

I love history and thoughtful movies and I’m not a huge fan of super hero movies or just straight action movies.

Any suggestions would be super appreciated! 🙂

  1. Super hero movies are not what they used to be. The Mission jives with your list so bravo there. Terrific flick. You also gotta go Dead Calm, mid 80s, pretty underrated flick and jives with your list a bit. Billy Zane. Perfect performance, same with the Kidman. Then, watch The Illusionist. A good flick with that Inception component of wtf. Wrap up with “Moon”, currently on Netflix. Do not miss that one. Since you liked Valkyrie, if you haven’t done The Great Escape, it’s like vintage Valkyrie without Tom Cruise and the eye patch.

  2. Let’s throw out some unheralded classics from the 90s and early 2000s: Donnie Darko, True Romance, Very Bad Things, The Royal Tennenbaums, Ghost World, Go, The Virgin Suicides. Ye shan’t be disappointed with any of these offerings.

      1. 2009 crime-thriller film. It’s one of my faves. I think you will like it. It’s the kind of movie that’s unpredictably awesome. Let me know if you get to see it 🙂

  3. Let’s see, (1)”Master and Commander: The Far Side of The World” is set in 1805 as a British warship pursues a French warship off the coast of South America; (2)”The Heart of The Sea” set in 1820, it’s about the story which inspired “Moby Dick”; (3)”The Ghost and The Darkness” is set in 1898 about two man eating lions that almost prevented the building of the Uganda-Mombasa Railway in East Africa; and best of all, (4)”Second Hand Lions” which is… well… about a shy kid left by his flaky mom to spend the summer with his two hard boiled uncles. It’s way deeper than it sounds and any good old boy of the south would understand it well.

  4. Now don’t roll your eyes at this one 😂 but Alfred Hitchcock’s Rear Window film is incredible. James Stewart (It’s a Wonderful Life), Raymond Burr (Perry Mason), the famous Grace Kelly, and Thelma Ritter (Miracle on 34th Street). The film is a very unique murder mystery in the fact that it artfully builds suspense without action and the entire movie uses only one set.

I have also enjoyed the Pirates of the Caribbean films, although you have probably already seen those.

Oh and if you haven’t seen Gone with the Wind with Clark Gable & Vivian Leigh, you need to see it. It isn’t politically correct, but it is a dramatization of the book of the same name by Margaret Mitchells, which is considered a Great American Novel. Take some time for this one though! The epic civil war drama is four hours long. Fun fact. If you adjust the earnings of this film for inflation, it is the number one earning film in American history, despite being made in 1939.

Hope this gives you something good to watch. Enjoy!
